BMW has a reputation for offering some of the most highly-advanced automobiles on the road. And here at Fields BMW of Daytona, we can tell you that it’s a well-deserved reputation. But what is the foundation for that reputation? Let’s answer that question by taking a deep dive into the engineering prowess that sets BMW vehicles apart from the other cars and trucks on the road.

BMW has a signature driving feel that enthusiasts recognize instantly and new BMW drivers come to love quickly. This incredible feeling is the result of near-perfect weight distribution. By balancing the weight over the front and rear axles to achieve near 50/50 balance, BMW engineers vehicles that offer enhanced safety, greater predictability, and more control.

Electronic Damping Control (EDC) is another feature that sets BWW vehicles apart. EDC adjusts the shock absorber settings to meet changes in vehicle speed, load, or road and driving conditions, adapting to fit the needs of each unique driving scenario. Drivers can select “Sport” or “Comfort” from the iDrive "Settings" menu, cuing EDC to modify the shock absorbers to the appropriate setting to provide exactly the type of ride you’re after.

Stability and smoothness are further increased by the four-wheel independent suspension, a standard feature on every BMW model. Active Roll Stabilization is an active suspension control system that works to reduce reduce body-roll, or lean, while cornering, thereby improving the suspension geometry of the vehicle in question.
