In terms of size, luxury, and advanced features, the BMW X7 is a first-class Sport Activity Vehicle®. If you’re thinking about buying this SAV, it’s important to know how to care for it, and this means ensuring it uses the right BMW X7 gas types.

What Type of Gas Does the BMW X7 Take?

Like all other BMW models, the BMW X7 requires premium gas. While this may be a tough pill to swallow when gas prices rise, it has a high-performance engine that can suffer internal damage with lower-quality gas. And while you’ll pay a little more at the pump, the high-octane gas will improve fuel efficiency, which will end up saving you money. Premium fuel will also boost the vehicle’s power and acceleration. On top of that, premium gas contains a cleaning agent that helps to clear out the carbon that builds up in the engine.

BMW X7 Power

The BMW X7 comes equipped with a turbocharged 3.0-liter, six-cylinder engine that generates 335 horsepower and 331 lb-ft of torque. There are also two other available engines:

  • Twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8: 523 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque
  • Twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8: 612 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque

All engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive is standard.

BMW X7 Gas Mileage

For a full-size luxury SUV, the BMW X7 gets great gas mileage. With the base engine, you’ll get 19 MPG in the city and 24 MPG on the highway, and if you select one of the other available engines, you’ll get 15 MPG in the city and 21 MPG on the highway.
