By now, we've all seen the pictures and footage of the devastation left behind in the wake of hurricane Sandy. Countless numbers of people were affected, including many who are part of the BMW family. Your friends here at Fields BMW Daytona, a favorite local BMW dealer, are proud to report that BMW of North America has stepped up in a big way to support relief efforts. Read on below for all the details!

In wake of the destruction, BMW of North America has pledged $1 million to the American Red Cross for disaster relief following Hurricane Sandy. We hope this money will go a long way towards assisting all of those affected!

Part of why BMW was so quick to jump to relief is that BMW of North America is actually headquartered in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey, one of the areas hit hardest by the hurricane, so we've seen and experienced the destruction first hand. We're proud of the fact that our company's presence in the United States supports thousands of jobs with a large number being in the Northeast - at our headquarters, dealerships, seaports and distribution facilities - and we are also proud to continue to support the communities in which we reside!

In speaking about the donation, Ludwig Willisch, CEO and President for BMW of North America, had this to say:

"This donation will help the Red Cross give aid to the many who are in need in the affected areas. … We support those who are working so hard on the recovery effort and we are encouraging our employees across North America to volunteer their time and money to the work underway.  Our dealers already are active in their communities and we thank them for stepping up to meet the needs in their local areas."
