At the 2012 BMW Championship at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, IN, Steve Stricker sunk a hole-in-one. This incredible feat meant that one lucky high school caddie would be receiving a full, four-year tuition and housing grant. We are thrilled to share that this year's 2012 BMW Hole-In-One Scholarship was delivered to Mark Abtahi, of Niles, IL. Abtahi is a caddie at the Park Ridge Country Club in Park Ridge, IL, and will enter his freshman year at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign this fall.
All of us here at Fields BMW of Daytona are beyond thrilled for him! Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO of BMW North America, spoke of the Scholarship by saying:
"BMW is pleased to award Mark Abtahi a four-year scholarship to the University of Illinois to help him achieve his dreams and education goals. ... It is an honor working with the Evans Scholars Foundation to support a program that impacts the lives of exceptional young people, such as Mark and other Evans Scholars like him."
As for Abtahi, here's what the lucky recipient had to say:
"Thanks to BMW and the Evans Scholars Foundation, I will be able to follow my dream of earning a degree in engineering. ... This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I hope this will enable me to continue on the path of success."
