The past week has been an exciting time for golf and automotive enthusiasts alike thanks to the BMW Championship Week that has been taking place near Chicago, IL. Read on below to learn all about how BMW teamed up with some of the biggest golfers in the sport today, and how they all teamed up to benefit one of golf's leading organizations, the Evans Scholars Foundation.

Every year, the BMW Championship draws in the top PGA Tour players for a long weekend of intense competition. In addition to this, there are always other outside events and festivities put on by BMW. One of our favorite activities occurred when PGA golfer and defending champion Rory Mcllroy took part in a driving challenge with Gary Woodland. The pair drove a BMW i3, which is an electric vehicle made primarily of carbon fiber, at a special course at an area Six Flags Park. As part of the competition, BMW donated $10,000 to the Evans Scholars Foundation.

Rory McIlroy spoke about the event by saying:

"With the playoffs in full swing, it was thrilling to kick off the BMW Championship in a fun and fast fashion. … Today's competition was fierce, but the true winners are the Evans Scholars."

Ludwig Willisch, President of BMW of North America, also spoke about the event, saying:

"The Evans Scholars program is one of our most rewarding initiatives and I am inspired every year by their dedication and commitment to higher education. … We are thrilled to continue our support of the Evans Scholars Foundation and allow young men and women the opportunity to pursue their goals."
