Last month, the BMW Group celebrated its 100thl birthday, an incredible feat by anyone’s standards. Here at Fields BMW of Daytona, your Florida BMW dealership, we watched BMW’s birthday bash with excitement. The company pulled out all the stops in Munich, including a live stream unveiling of the BMW Vision Vehicle. This sci-fi wonder, dubbed the BMW Vision Next 100, is sure to appeal to anyone’s inner 10-year-old—not to mention their fun-loving present-day self!

The car was created to represent the attributes that have helped BMW make it to 100 years, and that will drive it for another 100 years: the capability to learn and adapt, a focus on technological innovation, and a sense of responsibility toward society. The concept of learning and adaption is embodied by Alive Geometry, the AI at the heart of the BMW Vision Next 100. Alive Geometry works the car’s various cameras, sensors, navigation, GPS, and big data, learning patterns over time to actively predict hazards, trends, and traffic—and using this insight to proactively head them off.

Adrian van Hooydonk, Head of BMW Group Design, was excited to discuss BMW’s futuristic concept car, saying “If, as a designer, you are able to imagine something, there’s a good chance it could one day become reality. So our objective with the BMW Vision Next 100 was to develop a future scenario that people would engage with.” What’s next for the BMW Vision Vehicle? A world tour! The BMW Group will take it to China, the UK, and the USA, on the “Iconic Impulses” tour.
