The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas is always a treat for tech lovers of all kinds, and that includes auto enthusiasts. Here at Fields BMW of Daytona, we’re eagerly awaiting the show. BMW is a company that’s always on the cutting edge, and seeing what they have in store is routinely one of the highlights of the show for us. Earlier this month, the company gave word that they’ll be showing off BMW HoloActive Touch at CES 2017.
The BMW HoloActive Touch system is part of the BMW i Inside Future study, which is intended to give drivers a glimpse into the future of the automobile. The system is a virtual touchscreen intended to serve as a seamless interface between driver and vehicle. It combines some aspects of the BMW Head-Up Display, BMW gesture control, and direct touchscreen operation, while adding in unique features all its own to create something brand new. BMW HoloActive gives users access to the abundant features of BMW Connected. But here’s the kicker: for the first time ever, the functions can be controlled without physical contact with buttons or other materials. Instead, the free-floating display is operated using finger gestures, and confirms that it has received input by delivering perceived tactile input to users.
If you’ve ever wanted to feel like Iron Man when you’re driving your car, it sounds like your day is coming soon. CES tends to be an opportunity for BMW to showcase technology that’s on its way to drivers. At CES 2015, BMW unveiled gesture control technology that’s now available in the new 2017 BMW 7 Series and 2017 BMW 5 Series models.
Of course, BMW technology is always ahead of its time, so you don’t have to wait to have a car of the future. Come in to our Daytona Beach, FL dealership now to take advantage of the BMW Season Finale sales event and save on a new BMW model. Or you can check out the pre-owned 2015 BMW i8 we have available. It’s rare that a car is so ahead of its time that it still looks cutting edge two years after its debut, but that’s the case with this gorgeous automobile.
