Auto Motor und Sport is Germany’s leading auto magazine, and together with CHIP Magazine, they awarded the BMW 7 Series the Car Connectivity Award. As connectivity and tech-savvy features climb higher on drivers’ “must-have” lists, this distinction takes on added importance. Giving even more weight to the award is the fact that the BMW 7 Series was selected by readers. 18,229 Auto Motor und Sport and CHIP Magazine readers combed through a list of more than 80 technologies in 11 categories, and when they finished, the BMW 7 Series came out on top.
This doesn’t come as a shock; the BMW 7 Series is incredibly technologically sophisticated. Did you know that it is the world’s first series-produced car capable of being maneuvered in and out of perpendicular parking spaces or garages with no driver at the wheel? That’s right. The mind-blowing Remote Parking Control function takes over. Trust us here at Fields BMW Daytona, it’s quite a sight to behold. This feature is launched via the BMW Display Key, which features a digital screen. BMW ConnectedDrive features—including Real Time Traffic Information (RTTI), Online Entertainment, and Intelligent Emergency Call with accident severity detection—also factor into the car’s technological prowess.
The BMW 7 Series wasn’t the only winner of the reader poll. The BMW M2—part of the BMW M Series, also available here at our Daytona Beach, FL BMW dealership—took home the Best New Design of 2016 award in the compact car category with an astounding 34.3 percent of the votes. Inspired by the BMW brand’s racing heritage, the BMW M2 features wide hips and aggressive front fascia.
