Later this year, a new BMW Sports Activity Vehicle® (SAV®) will make its way to Fields BMW of Daytona: the 2018 BMW X2. After its unveiling in October, the new model made its official North American debut this month at the Detroit Auto Show. The subcompact crossover SAV is a slightly smaller model than the BMW X1, giving drivers a bit more maneuverability in urban environments, and imbuing the vehicle with a sportier aesthetic.

The 2018 BMW X2 xDrive28i will make its way to BMW dealerships this spring complete with a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine producing 228 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque.

The upcoming SAV also made an appearance at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES®), though it didn’t appear in person. In a first-of-its-kind move for the BMW brand, the 2018 BMW X2 was shown off to drivers via a virtual reality demo. Not only were drivers able to walk completely around the virtual BMW X2, they were also able to get inside and look around. Folks who tried it out found the experience incredibly lifelike, with one writer sharing that he ducked his head when stepping out of the car.

One of our favorite models is the 2017 BMW X3. U.S. News & World Report had this to say about the luxury SAV: “The 2017 BMW X3 hits all the right notes: sporty handling, potent engines, a handsome cabin, and high predicted reliability and safety scores. The [BMW] X3 also offers plenty of room for your passengers and cargo, so it's as good at commuting during the week as it is playing on the weekend.”
